The Dodgers will open a 3 games series against the visiting D'Backs at the Dodger Stadium and will hope to break some regular season "spell" against the team they lost 9 consecutive regular season games to.
And, if that was not enough - the Dodgers also surrendered 4 consecutive regular season series to the same D'Backs. But, did you pay an attention to the "regular season"? Because in the playoffs last season the Dodgers swept the Arizona to an early vacation. Not only that - tonight they will Zack Greinke who usually heats up much later in the season and so far has been a part of two out of only three games Arizona (9-3) lost this season. In addition - in the three games Greinke started at Dodger Stadium for Arizona, he has a 7.56 ERA in and a 1-2 record. Overall he is 4-4 against the Dodgers (3.74 ERA in 11 starts).
The Dodgers will encounter with Maeda who has been pretty good striking out 10 in his on;ly start this season (against the Giants). His only other appearance has been one inning of scoreless relief April 7 after his April 6 start at San Francisco was rained out.
The numbers of the pitchers this season are s follows:
I can see the odds movement in the Dodgers favor while great deal of public money in favor of the D'Backs not only did not affect the odds, but they have reversed going from -130 the Dodgers to -155 the Dodgers.
This is an early season and I do see a great spot for another system play as suggested by SBS. That play will be on the Dodgers ML of course.
It must be noted that part of the SBS triggered play is the earlier season sweep of the Dodgers by the Diamondbacks.
